EIGHT CANTERBURY CASES.

END NOT YET IN SIGHT. CHRISTCHURCH, March 12. Hopes of a pronounced drop in the number of notifications of infantile paralysis were dashed by a steady stream of fresh cases this afternoon. In all, eight cases were notified, seven being in the city or environs. The cases were:—

Girl, 7i years, Ollivier’s Road, Linwood. . Boy, 16 years, Gresham’s Road, Rangiora. Boy, 4 years, Byron Street, Sydenham. . Boy, 3 years, Sawyers’ Arms Road. Boy, 10 years, Buxton’s Corner, Shirley. Boy, 6| years, Hackthorne Road, Cashmere. Infant, 7 months (sex not stated), St. Albans Lane. Boy, 14 years, Shirley Street, fat. Albans.

The Rangiora case is a suspect only. The case, of a girl from Barfield, previously notified, has been/ found to be negative. A boy of years, who resided in Balfour Terrace, has* been found to be negative, and the patient has been discharged. DOMINION FIGURES. SIX CASES IN 24 HOURS. WELLINGTON, March 12. Six infantile paralysis notifications were received throughout the Dominion for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. today as follows: — Auckland district ... 1 Wellington district ... 3 Canterbury district ... 2 For the 24 hours between noon yesterday and noon to-day only one fresh e&se of infantile paralysis lias been notified to the Auckland District Health Office'. The case is m Smith Auckland. Within the same period there has been another death m the, Auckland hospital.
