Britain’s coal output for the week ended December 20 was 0,060,500 tons. Competitors were asked by the English “Schoolmaster” for a suggestive list of subjects for discussion m class by children 11-14 years of age. Ihe winning list gained the prize, not so much from the subjects actually selected as from the fact that they at once suggested others of similar type, and were expressed in the form of assertion or challenge, which is calculated to obtain a response. Ihe winning list was: (1) Bobbed ban is ridiculous. (2) Children eat too many sweets. (3) Lines as a punishment are a waste of time and energy. (4) Listen-incr-in is a much over-rated pastime. (o) Charlie Chaplin films atre no longer funny. (C) Reading is a waste ot time.;
