LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE.
NEW METHODST CHURCH.
The Trustees of the Baring Square Methodist Church met in the school- \ room last evening. The Rev. T. W. Vealie presided, and there were also present: Messrs H. M. Jones, F. H. Steel, H. A. Vesty, C. F. Homll, SMoore, F. Buxton, G. Bowman, S. J. Graham, R, A. Collins, J. W. Baker,. J. Osborne, Jno. Watson, Jno. Moore, G. W. Andrews, C. G. Andrews, and F. Frampton. , , , . The chairman stated that the meeting had been called to consider the desirability or otherwise of postponing the laying of the foundation stone or the new church, in view of the epidemic of infantile paralysis. Lvery* thing was in readiness for the function to take place on the date previously fixed, March 21. . , Mr F. Frampton moved — That the layirfg of the foundation stone of the new church be proceeded with as previously determined.* Tins was seconded by Mr H. M. Jones. _ Tn a full discussion it was ‘ pointed out that if the matter was proceeded, with at once a large number of, residents would be debarred from caking part in the proceedings, while there would be considerable risk of spreading the disease. The event was one that would appeal to the youth of the church, and it was thought that, taking all the circumstances into consideration, it would be unwise to take the risk. Much of the bricklaying could go on, and the general work would not be delayed. Eventually the motion was withdrawn, and it was decided “ that on account of the nrevailing epidemic the board postpone the laying of the foundation stone for the , present.” - * It was decided to hold the Harvest Thanksgiving Festival on Sunday, t March 22. and a sale of produce on the following Tuesday.
