THE WATERFRONT TROUBLE
NO OVERTIME AT LYTTELTON.

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Last night, for the third night i* succession, the watersiders at Lyttelton declined to work overtime. Several vessels in port have been delayed in consequence. NEW PLYMOUTH DEADLOCK. NEW PLYMOUTH. March 12. The steamer John is being worked bv her crew, the only watersiders engaged being four men employed by the Railway Department to work trucks. A meeting of the union passed a resolution calling on the Labour Department to prosecute the owners for a breach of the award by creating a lock-out. Flour stocks are perilously low. A deputation of traders visited the wharf this morning, hut the watersiders’ meeting would not give them a hearing.
