LYING AT LYTTELTON WHARF,

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 12. When the Union Company’s steamer Navua berthed at Lyttelton this morning the alarm was given that there was a, fire in No. 3 hold. The brigade turned out and the hatches were lifted. Dense volumes of smoke issued xiom the ’tween decks. After 40 minutes work sufficient cargo had been taken out to let the firemen enter the hold The fire was put out just before it reached some cases of matches.
