A CORRECTION.
Sir _Tlie value of a statement or a piece 5 of news depends entirely upon its accuracy. I therefore wish to correct a paragraph which appeared in your paper last night. You stated that I was fined in the Christchurch Magistrate s Court for failure to render income tax returns. This is incorrect. The charge was for land tax in respect of a piece of land owned by me in North Canter - burv, tho books for which are kept by an "accountant in Christchurch, and whose duty it was to render the returns. I was therefore neither negligent nor careless in regard to the matter, as it was not my business to attend to it. m mTT A. J. NXCOLL.
