WAiMATE HUNT CLUB. TIMARU, July 24. The Waimate Hunt Club’s meeting—the last fixture of the season in the South Island —was held in glorious weather, the sun being in evidence throughout the day. The course was in good order, and there was some fine sport, though mishaps were numerous -in the steeplechases. The totalisator investments were £6106 10s, compared with £5112 10s last year. The following are the results: Studholme Hurdle Handicap, of 100 sovs j one mile and five furlongsAgnola 1, Pomposa. 2, Hiero 3. Won by four lengths; a length between second and third. Time, 3min 4sec. Cluecliffs Hunters’ Steeplechase, of 75 bovs ; about two miles and a quarter —Grey Star 1, Six Cylinder 2, Pukaki Maid 3. Won by a short half length. Pukaki Maid fell five furlongs from home, but was mounted by a spectator and got third money. Waimate Steeplechase, of 130 sovs; two miles and a half —Master Peter 1, Sherlock 2, Aurore 3. Won by a neck ; a similar distance between second and third. Time, 4min 46sec. Wailiao Hack Handicap, of 75 sovs; six furlongs— Clontarf 1, Rockfellow 2, King Sol 3. Won easily by three lengths; a head between second and third. Time, Imin 15 2-ssec. Hunt Club Steeplechase, of 60 sovs; about two miles and a half—Six Cylinder 1, Pulcki Maia 2, Grey Star 3. GISBORNE RACING CLUB. GISBORNE, July 24. The Gisborne Racing Club’s steeplechase meeting opened to-day in dull weather, with occasional showers in the early part of the- afternopn. Totalisator investments amounted to £12,775, compared with £9675 on the corresponding day last year. Results: Park Hurdle Handicap, of 150 sovs; one mile and three-quarters—Waiooka Jack 1, Birks 2, Whanoko 3. Won by five lengths; eight lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 24sec. Maiden Hack Race, of 100 sovs; five furlongs—Night Song 1, Voitore 2, Merchant 3. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin ssec.

Flying Handicap, of 165 sovs- six furlongs—Startle 1, Heather Sprig 2, Civilform 3. Won by three-quarters of a length; a head between second and third. Time, Imin IBsec. Gisborne Steeplechase, of 200 sovsthree miles- —Highway 1, Mahia 2, Zeus 3. Won by three lengths; eight lengths between second and third. Time, 6mm 17sec.

Hack Flat Handicap, of 130 sovs; six furlongs—Many Colours 1, Sweet Heather 2, Kings Up 3. Won by a neck; three-quarters of a length be tween second and third. Time, Imin 19 l-ssec.
