Mails close at Ashburton as fol low: Friday, July 25. For northern ports at 2.45 p.m.; late fee letters 3 p.m.; guards van 3.30 p m. INCOMING oversea mails. (Approximate dates only). R..M.S. Makura left Vancouver for Auckland on July 2. She carries 700 bags of mail and 166 parcel receptacles for New Zealand. Paper portion due Ashburton on Friday. 122 bags of English parcel receptacles ex Corinthic will arrive in Christchurch on Saturday.
OUTGOING OVERSEA MAILS. (Approximate dates only).
Mails for Australian States, South Africa and the East, per Ulimaroa at Wellington, close at Ashburton to-day. Mails for United Kingdom, Europe, also Pitcairn Island, via close at Ashburton on July 28 at 2.45 p.m. (Specially addressed correspondence Ol Mails for the United Kingdom, Europe and United States of America, via Vancouver, per Makura, will close at Ashburton on August 2, at 5.15 p.m. Mails which left Wellington on May 27, via San Francisco, arrived London June 19. Mails which left Auckland on June. 10 via Vancouver, arrived London July 10.
