FOOTBALLER INJURED. In a practice football game at Methven Domain on Saturday afternoon, J. Waldie had a leg broken. He was attended to by Dr. W. McKee, and was taken to his home, but was removed to the Ashburton Hospital yesterday.

PAINTER ELECTROCUTED. OHRISTCHURCH, This Day.. .At Southbridge on Saturday an inquest was held into the circumstances attending the death of John Leslie Lorimen Hannah, who was electrocuted on Thursday when engaged Panting D Taylor and Co.'s premises. Mr K. B." B. Wills, J.P., acting coroner, presided. Constable Moriarty represented the police. Mr A. S. Nicholls represented, the Springs Ellesmere Electric Power Board, and Mr K. G. FOOTBALL FATALITIES. WESTPORT, June 21. At an inquest touching on the death of William King in the Westport Hospital on Friday morning, evidence was given that the deceased, from a breakaway in a line-out in a junior football match at Granity on the preceding Saturday, received a kick or knocK. He recovered sufficiently to play a little longer, and then left the field. he became seriously ill that night, and was removed to the Westport Hospital, where he died at 2 a.m. on Fndav. A verdict was returned that death was the result of injuries to the abdomen accidentally received in a football match. , ;, ~' - The funeral took place this- afternoon. A lengthv cortege included officials of the Bulfer Rugby Union and footballers from all the clubs in the district. The hearse was preceded by members of the Rover Club, of which the deceased was a member. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Mr Neligan, of Granity.

A FRACTURED LEG. AUCKLAND, June 22. N. J. Gribble, aged about 21, a wellknown amateur hurdler, collided with another player while playing for King's Old Boys in a senior. Rugby match against Newton, and sustained a double fracture of the leg.

LINESMAN DROWNED. PALMERSTON NORTH, June 22. A drowning fatality occurred at Karere on Saturday, A. W. Park, single, aged 23, losing his life in the Manawatu River. Deceased was foreman of a party emploved by tbeMana-watu-Oroua Power Board getting a wire across the river.' A boat containing him and a companion overturned. Despite, the efforts of his fellows, Park was washed downstream. A search party of 27 was engaged to-dav in dragging the river, but the body so far has not been recovered. Great praise is bestowed by the board's engineer on an emplovee named Steer, who made srallant efforts to save Park. This is the third accident to members of the erang this week. J. Proctor, who was injured earlier in the week while untrucking poles, still lies in_ the hospital in a dangerous condition.
