ASHBURTON SUB-UNION. SECOND ANNUAL MEETING. At the second annual meeting of the Ashburton Ladies' Hockey Sub-associa-tion, held last night, the president, Mr H. A. Humphreys, occupied the chair. The following delegates were present: Misses Piggott, M. Morrison, C. Boothroyd, M. Bell. I. Millichamp, C.' Shannon, and T. Cornelius. The annual report stated that the association could be congratulated on the healthy condition of its affairs, especially the financial side, as revealed by the balance sheet, which showed receipts to* be £2B 2s 4d (including last year's, credit balance), and the expenditure £ll 8s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £l6 14s 2d to start the year with. Assets, including the credit balance, were £22 12s 2d, and liabilities nil. The past season had been most successful in every way, and the play reached a very'high standard, and was no doubt due to the keen rivalry in connection with the Gala Cup competition. Six teams took part in this competition, namely: Rakaia, High School, Hinds, Ashburton, and two from Tinwald; and it was won by Rakaia, High School being runners-up. A noteworthy feature of Rakaia's win was that throughout the season, also in the six-a-side tournament, its line was not crossed once. The final match of the season between Rakaia and High School ended' in. a draw (no score), and was the best held under the • auspices of the association. /A very j successful six-a-side tournament was , held at the end of last season, when . Rakaia (the previous year's winner) ]

was again successful, High School being runners-up. During the season a match was played between teams representing Ashburton and Malvern Sub-Associations, and resulted in a win for Ashburton by one goal to nil, after an evenly contested game. With the probability of two or three new clubs affiliating, the prospects for the incoming season were decidedly promising. The report was adopted. Officers were elected as follow: Patron, Mr F. W. Watt; president, Mr H. A. Humphreys; vice-presidents," Messrs J. W. Bowden, J M. Wilkie, and F. Clark (Ashburton), A. Million amp and C. Challis (Tinwald), A % J. Magson and G.
