MONSTER FRENCH GUNS
BIGGER THAN BERTHA.
NOT POINTED AT BRITAIN. -
(Per Press Association —Copyright.! LONDON, March 11. The Paris correspondent of the “Daily Express” recalls that Mr Ramsay MacDonald’s recent letter to M. Poincare alluded to large armaments in Western France. It i,s rumoured that'this letter refers to guns said to have a range of 90 miles, placed at two points on the French coast commanding the Channel. The French War Ministry denies that the guns have such a range, and are iso placed; but there has been no denial that France does possess a gun with a longer range than the notorious German “Big Bertha.” Trials of this new gun were carried out in the Gulf of Lyons, when War Office experts and representatives of Messrs Schneider were present.
