The Mayor invites subscribers and others to attend at the Hospital on Thursday, and be present at the formal opening. The Municipal Conference.—The, Mayor- was thanked by the Council last night for having represented the Borough at the Municipal Conference. In acknowledging the compliment he said the delegates had been treated right royally in Wellington. He had hob-a-nobbed with the Governor at luncheon to'which His Excellency had invited the delegates, and the “lady Governor” had been as usual a suave and entertaining hostess. He had made it his business in his journey northwards to educate himself as to

the municipal condition of the towns and citievs through which he had passed, and he had come to the conclusion that there was not a single one on the mute that could compare with Ashburton for excellence of streets and footpaths. The following will represent the Ashburton Juniors second fifteen in the. match against High School:—Fullback : Clark ; threequarter-backs: W. Berg and B. Baker; . wing forwards: W. Anderson, B. Moriarty; forwards: Willis, Kerr, Minnis, Crum, Smith, and Childs. Emergencies: Addis, Miles, Adams.
