NOTIFIABLE DISEASES.
FIGURES FOR THE COUNTY. From the official notifications of disease in the Ashburton County _ it would appear that the figures are not very much above nor mail, and certainly not sufficient to give rise to any alarm. The notifications of all classes of diseases at the present are as fol- '° Scarlet fever —Mar on an 1, Borough Tuberculosis —Borough 1, Rakaia 1. Puerpcrol sepsis—Barr HiH 1. Pneumonic Influenza: —Fairton 1, Lagmhor 2, Rakaia 1, Methven 1. Lodar (double) pneumonia.—Methven 1.
These comprise all the recent notifications, states the Health Inspector, Mr E. N. Johnson. There need be no alarm so far as the County is concerned as regards a. pneumonic-inflh-enza epidemic, though it is still essential that all should pay heed to the advice given by the Department’s Medical Officers. It was not unlikely that some of the serious cases were caused because of neglect of bad colds. Mr Johnson said that all over the town and countiy the people were suffering bad colds, and in some cases all the members of the family had been attacked simultaneously. The proper earc of oneself was absolutely necessary.
