' The following forecast was isused today:—The indications are for westerlywinds, strong to gale, and backing by west to south. The weather will probably prove squally and changeable. Weather clouding over; rain later, and probably becoming colder soon. Barometer rising.

Ominous clouds gathered in the late forenoon, completely shutting out the bright sunshine which prevailed during i the earlier hours of this morning. A heavy shower fell at noon, and thereafter a drizzling rain, falling intermittently, made conditions unpleasant. With the sudden change in overhead conditions also came a strong north-west wind, which early this afternoon veered to south-west, and the air became colder. At 2 o'clock this afternoon the thermometer registered 6S degrees. Yesterday bright sunshine was experienced practically all day. A steady, strong nor'-wester prevailed. The temperature at its highest was 74 degrees, and at its lowest 48 degrees. The barometer was as low as 29.46 in during the past 24 hours.
