AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

MEETING ON THE DOMAIN

The Amateur Cycling and' Athletic Club held another series' of running events on the Domain Oval last evening. These meetings are conducted under the rules of the New Zealand Association, and are promoted -with the object of increasing interest in local athletics. There was a fair sprinkling of onlookers, and the three events run produced good finishes. Owing to the distances being only approximate, no times were taken. Following are the results:— Handicap—G. H. Nicoll (65yds handicap) 1; Meeking (70yds) 2; R. D. Wood (15yds), and R. Clark (scr) also> started. The four were gradually closing up one upon another until within 100 yards of the finish, when Nicoll passed Meeking, and won by two or three yards. 100yds Handicap—W. S. McCTymont (sro) 1; M. Farrell (3yds) 2. Won by two yards, with a very close finish for second- place between Farrell and J. G. Soilness. R.' G. Briee (10yds) also started. 300yds Handicap—R. D. Wood (25yds) 1; G. H. Nicoll (35yds) 2; M. Farrell (15yds) 3. Won by several yards. W. S. McClymont and) A. L. Trcsidder , (scr) also started.
