THE VARYING MARK.
LONDON, October 28. The Berlin correspondent of the "Daily News" says there are sensational .variations m the mark of between 680 and 740 which are causing a panic. The run on shops continues by German housewives, who fear what they call "Austrian conditions." Food and clothing stores m Hamburg are being closed for two hours eyery afternoon, to enable the shopgirls to recover from the physical strain of the morning's rush. _ . , German Customs officials are using aeroplanes to stop smuggling, which has greatly increased owing to the depreciation of the mark.
