The trouble was that everybody wanted gold, which Germany had not got, and they would not take German goods. _He believed there would be no difficulty about disarmament. It was no use advancing, millions to Austria. The fact was that "Austria was now a small State, and unable to bear the cost of such a capital as Vienna. Britain had already advanced millions to- Austria. Britain and France, under their heavy taxation burdens, could not supply more millions to Austria. Mr Lloyd' George and M. Jbriana have reached an agreement that Germany shall pay ioity-two annuities, varying from £100,000,,000 to £300,---000,000, also 12* per cent, on all German exports. The Conference lated adopted the Reparations reports as cabled, and decided to meet the German representatives at a conference m .London on February 28. The Reparations terms include fortytwo annuities, dating from May 192 i. The first two will be of £100,000,000 each, the next three of £50,000,000 .each, then three of £200,000,000 each, three of £250,000,000 each, and thirtyone of £300,000,U00 each. Britain's total share will be £2,486,000.
