COUNTRY BUILDINGS.

Mr E. 'Newman asked Clie President of the Board of Trade (the Hon. E. P. Lee) yesterday afternoon if lie would give instructions that material for farmers' buildings should be exempted from the regulations under the Board of Trade Act, so as to give farmers and others' in the country a chance to-have their buildings constructed, and thus relieve the difficulties existing.

Mr Lee said that he could not do what the lion, member asked. People had only to apply to the local bodies, and no doubt they would e;et their permits. He did not think there was much delay between the application and the reply. He could not say why people intending to build * could not wait until they got their reply from the County Council. Mr Newman: It is from the County Council that this comes. Mr Lee stated that he would have the matter looked into, but the County Councils had the authority themselves to issue permits for dwelling-houses, nnd if thore was dplay it must lie with the Comity Councils.
