HUSBAND SACRIFICED LIFE
A-husband'stsuicide, after a previous attempt, so.'that..'his wife might marry again: and be- happy, was investigated by Mr J. . Nightingale, at, Cheam, Surrey. The dead man was Arthur Wilson, a discharged soldier, aged 48. A Kingston young woman, while on a country walk, found Wilson hanging from a may tree in Green] ane, .Cheam, and the following letter addressed ,to his wife was found in his overcoat: —
| "I am very sorry, for having brought this trouble on you. You have suffered long enough, and your .health has broken down, J>ecause.Gmy bad health jhas been a constant worry to you. .1 j shall never be;; "any more/use,. to -y^ou, Iso I am releasing you, b^^aus^ you are young and should..!marry again- You |may meet with 'better luck'than you i have with me.
" God bless my dear .wife and darling boy.' Try ahd^forget me till "we mcct 1 again in heaven, I .l&ayte .behind a thorough good, wife'hrid^good boyr This ■has been «no.ifault >*>$jf)y.burs.B It has been a,,gre^t strugglej ;^p;;fig|.t :;agaihst , my pains, but th.ew get the upper hand 'of-me',' arid T think it-is'best to leave this '^world;— Your heart-broken hus■.barid,rv.w :] jC ■ "Arthur." Mrs Wilson said' her husband was ; discharged from the AnhyJ. suffering from neurasthenia. He could not any work because of his nerves. They sold theirs ,home, , and she went into |service' at; Margate! : '. ;.■ /'->;' v' "•:'.• ••'., A verdict' of suicide while of unsound mind was-returned. ■ X
