TEACHERS' BONUS.
WELLINGTON, April 29
In.view of the fact that an announcement has been mada of the payment to various Departments of the Civil Service of a cost of living bonus, and that no similar announcement has been made to members of the teaching profession, the following telegram was to-<j day dispatched to the Minister of Education by the president and secretary of the Education Boards' Association — "We observe a statement in the Press that a bonus is being paid to officers of the various Departments of the Civil Service, but no similar announcement has been made regarding teachers. We trust that in justice to a class of public servants who in many instances live . in conditions most unfavourable, you will safeguard their interests by arranging for a simultaneous payment'of the bonus to them also." ■{.
