AUSTRALIAN PREPARATIONS.
(Per Presj Association —Cosyri^ht) (Received January 22, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 22. The City Council's Finance Committee discussed a proposal to vote £5000 to entertain the Prince of Wales. Some of the aldermen considered the proposed sum to be miserly compared with what Melbourne was doing. One of the Labour representatives was opposed to voting any of the ratepayers' money for the purpose. His views were so strongly expressed that it- eventually led to his being conducted out. No decision was reached. MELBOURNE, January 22. The City Council voted £10,000 to cover the expense of the city's enter-tainment-of the Prince of Wales.
