A Sydney cablegram received to-day announced the death of Lady Parlies, widow of Sir Henry Parkes.
The hospital authorities report that Mr J. Leonard,, who, met- with an accident a few days ago,, is now making good progress towards recovery.
Mr T. W. Rowe, Christchufch, has iufornied the Mayor thatrhe will visit Ashburton on July 19, and deliver an address in connection with the Peace celebrations.
