WATERTON.

On .Friday evening"'last?, a" large gathering assembled in 1 the Public Hall to welcome home Lieutenant Denley, Privates Fisher; C'arruthers,; ; and Hall. The entertainment took .the form of a. dance. Mr W. J. .Taylor' presided. During the evening : Mr' T.\ Gollins. on behalf of the residents', welcomed the soldiers, and presented each one with a gold medal, suitably inscribed. Mr W. .Hockings also ' added, a' few words of welcome. The' soldiers suitably responded. ■. „, ' Musical . items were supplied by Messrs Dewsir and Bruce,' and a stepdance by Miss Queenie Wilkie. Dancing was kept up with much spirit for several hours, music being supplied by Mr and Miss Gluyas and others. Mr J. Bailey acted as M.C. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.
