KSS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
There was a crowded house at His Majesty's Theatre last evening, when a particularly pleasing programme was presented by the management. Those who had read Ethel M. Dell's novels followed with especial interest the screening ol: the star picture, "The Safety Curtain," with Nprma Talmadge in the principal role. The opening scenes were short and intensely dramatic, giving glimpses of music-hall life at the Alhani.bra, where Puck was forced into some cruel situations, and finally rescued from a desperate plight owing to the theatre taking fire.. Believing her bullying husband to be buried in the ruin's of the theatre, Puck married her rescuer, an officer in the Indian Army. The past with inexorable truth rose to destroy this happy union, hut lovo triumphed in the end. Incidentally the life of -the administrators of our"Tudia<? Empire was faithfully portrayed. The Pathe Gazette was a budget of interesting pictorial sketches, scenes f*om the- 1 Lord Mayor's Show, views in'-and frnm nil aircraft, including a- view of f-'fc. Paul's from the air, and unusually living and human pictures of Armistice Day'jollities in London being quite excellent'features. A scenic film in. colour photography of the Valley of the Lot carried' the picture patrons to a corner of 'Franco so picturesque that ifc suggrstr'd menireval times, gallant kr.ight«T, and damsels to he .succoured. The programme will b?- repetxicd. .this evening. After the interval Mr J. Alexander sang. "Back to Home, Sweet Home."
