RUGBY FOOTBALL.
The senior Rugby match played at Springbum on,.Thursday afternoon, between .Springb'urn . and Ashburton re-frulte-d in a..draw, . each' «ide scoring three points.' The tries were . secured by Mulligan- (Springburn) and C. Stills (Ashburton). The game was veiy fast, particularly in the early stages, and considering it was the first match of the season, so far as. the competing teams were concerned, the standard of play was very satisfactory, onloak&ns being unanimous in the opinion that it was the best exhibition' of football seen in the' district since the commencement of the. war.
Mr W. Page refereed to the satisfaction of both sides.
At the conclusion of th© match, the visitors were hospitably entertained by the home club.
