Mr Churchill, speaking in the House of • Commons, said M., Pichon's statement that 140,000 British troops were in the East, included those in the Balkans, Turkey, Asia Minor and the Caucasus. There were only. 20,000 in Russia.' That figure did not include those in the Caucasus, where the troops were not engaged in military operations, and were not in contact with the enemy. ' .. ,
