OVERCOME BY GAS.
MELBOURNE, December 12
A' suddean inrush of gas -in, a sewer at Richmond overcame a workman ■named Swannage and his companion, Aldridge. Passers-by, named Quinn, Griffiths, 1 and Mi lls v successively went to the assistance of the men, and all .collapsed;. .Eventually." firemen with 'gas helmets arrived. Swannage., Aldridge and "Quiim were dead,' and the otlier two men wore rescued in a serious condition!.
