NEWS AND NOTES.
MAYFIELD
The fortnightly meeting of the Mayfield Christian Endeavour Society was held in the Methodist Church last Wednesday evening. There was a fair attendance of members, Miss Mactier presiding. After devotional exercises the subject for the evening was proceeded with. Instructive papers on "Temperance" were given by Mrs R. B. Jeff, Miss Mactier, and Mr J. T. Williams. Each writer treated the subject from different standpoints, and a. good discussion followed. Mr S. Heyward, the Alliance canvasser, being present, gave an interesting account of his work and experiences, and made a strong appeal to all to support the Prohibition movement. An enjoyable meeting was brought to a close by the Rev. F. P. Kellow pronouncing the Benediction.
