LIBERAL PROGRAMME
LONDON, Sept. 5
There is a belief in political circles that Mr Lloyd George's election programme is completely confined to winning the war that it virtually disregards other issues. It is significant that the Liberal programme, prepared at the Liberal Federation meeting on August 26, makes winning the war tho first'plank, and also declares for free trade, but affirms that there are special cases where measures must be taken to safeguard home production in the interests of national security, that profits arising from these protected industries should belong to the State and not to individuals. The programme also proposes- the abolition of. the House of Lords, equalising tho position of women in the professions, and supports the principle of a minimum wage, affording a proper standard of comfort, as the first charge on every branch of industry and trade.
