V ESTE R DAY'S SESSI ON
• Tho session of the Christchurch. JJiocesan Synod was continued last evening, his Lordship Bishop Julius presiding. The adjourned. debate .was continued on the motion; moved by the Rev. H. Williams, sen.: '."' That inasmuch "as in the opinion pf Synod its is desirable that the 'messengers' 'meetings be continued, this fciynod recommends that each; parish, where such a meeting has been held, should be invited to appoint a committee of men and womeik to consider the report on this subject, presented to Synod last year, particularly Sections 1, 2, and 4, with special reference to the, needs of that parish, in order to devise means of broadening and' intensifying^ the work 'of the-, church in the -parish, and to suggestlines on which future ' mesbonger&' ' meetings could most usefully be conducted there."
The Rev. C. G. Mutter said that he wished to lodge an emphatic protest against the Attitude taken up in the matter by Canon Purchas, and expressed; the; opinion that to act on the limes indicated by the Canon would mean separation from the rest of Catholic Christendom. , The spirit ho had shown was not that of the Church of England,! white miariy of ; the :'-gt^e- f ,. nidtits he had imade could" be refuted.
