ZEPPELINS RAID FRANCE. ;

A DISASTROUS VENTURE

Official.—Eleven Zeppelins raided France last night. They were chased iii: all directions by aeroplanes and har.assed by gunfire.

•Official warning had been given in Paris, but no bombs were dropped.

: ■ The guns downed a Zeppelin near Livneyille, and another in the Upper Marhe district. • ' ' ' ■'

Aeroplanes downed a third in Burgundy and a fourth in the Maiiene Alps, aftel" an all-night chase. 'A , report that a ,' fifth has [been

downed is not confirmed. The crew of one were made prisoners, and the Zeppelin itself was captured intact. .

Two others were disabled when attacked by aeroplanes and anti-aircraft, guns, and compelled to descend. The crows set fire to' the Zeppelins arid took to...flight, but were ..captured.

Besides .those downed, four disabled Zeppelins are wandering about France, two in the south-west, one- in the ■Mcditerraneai;, and one on the Swiss frontier-. ...All are,, closely penned^ in by French aviators. >■ ■
