A supplement to the " Gazette " of September 21 contains the following additional regulations tinder the Fisheries Act, 1908: — fl. For the purposes oi' , these regulations 'the Waitaki ! and Rangitata rivers (and such other rivers and lakes as shall from time to time be' proclaimed) shall he deemed to ,be salmon rivers, in which rivers the 'species known as quinnat salmon (Oncorhynchus tschawytscha) may be takon. 2. In all salmon rivers the season when .trout may be taken shall begin on Ortobpr 1, and the season when quinnat salmon may be taken shall betTJn on January 15. and tho season when both salmon and trout may be taken shall cud on April 15 in any year, provided that in any year when vhe Tuesday next alter Easter Monday falls on a date later than April 15 the season for that year shall be-extended to include such date. ■ 3. Ordinary.' trout licenses in nonsalmon rivers and. lakes,shall be issued for tho ■ period "from October 1 in any one year to April 30 in the following year. 4. No person holding a trout license shall fish in a salmon river after January 15 in any year unless and until he obtains a salmon license as hereinafter provided. Any per-on desiring to fish for trout in a salmon rivor after January 15 must also take out a. salmon license, and his trout and salmon licensen shall entitle him to fish to tho end of the then current season.

Licenses to fish ■ for trout and perch may .be'■issued by the secretary of any duly registered acclimatisation society, or. by anyone authorised by sucb secretary in that behalf, and such licenses shall entitle.'tho person named therein to fish in every acclimatisation district from Oetobvr 1 in any one year to April 30 in tho year following: j provided that for any river which is declared a salmon river tho season shall end on April 15, or the Tuesday next after Easter Monday, if it falls on a date later 1 than April 15 in any year. 6. Licenses for taking salmon shall ,be issued.at the following rates, viz.: A .salmon license shalj Jje issued only to the holder of a trout license, which must bo. produced and endorsed. For trout the licenses for men shall bo £1 for the whole, trout season from October 1 to April 30, except in salmon rivers as mentioned in clause 4. For salm.oiX' .itho.
