In some provinces the Department of Agriculture undertakes to sell tho wool sent to it by producers. In others tho responsibility di-as been assumed by large associations of sheep farmers. Centralisation has effected economy in transport charges. The Dominion Department of Agriculture has placed expert classers freely at the disposal of tho provincial Governments, and their work has been followed by improved methods in shearing and pressing the wool. In 1916 tho Government experts classed 140,178 fleeces, weighing 1,004,5121b, produced on farms.
