A Dunedin telegram states that Mr James Gore, ex-Mayor of Dunedin, and member of Parliament from 1884 to 1887, died yesterday. Mrs H. McGee, Burnett Street, has received advice that her husband, Private W. McGee, was admitted to hospital in France on June-18j suffering from the effects of gas. Private McGee left with the Eighteenth Reinforcements.

Advice has been received that Laiice-Corporal W. Ri Inwood has been admitted to hospital in France, suffering from gunshot'wounds in the right knee. Lance-Corporal Inwood left with the Twenty-first Reinforcements.

Advice was received to-day that Corporal Roderick D. Boon, who enlisted in Ashburton and left with the Fourth Battalion of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, had die<i of wounds in France. Corporal Boon was the eldest son of Mrs Emily Smith, New South Wales.

Recently a very enjoyable social gathering was held in Mr.J. H. Muir-hoa-d's granary, at Laghmor, to bid farewell to Private W. J. Crawford, who was on final leave. About 100 residents were present, and the ovening was'spent in^dancing and games, while a musical programme. was also given. After supper, a presentation in the form of a well-filled money-belt was made to Private Crawford. In making the presentation, Mr W. J. Private CVawford suitably responded. On: behalf of the residents of the v district, Mr Moses extended a. hearty welcome home to {Captain "Wright, who was home on leave from the front.
