llie secretary read the report, which stated that the branch ' -had been formed on September 6, 191(5, with a membership' of 'Si. Three ordinary meetings had been held and three lectures given. A movement had been started by the branch with a view of getting a daily mail service for the district} and a deputation had waited on Mr \V. Nosworthy, M..P., who had promised to do what he could to further the service. The postal authorities now had the matter under consideration.
The balance-sheet was adopted subject to audit. Three new' members were proposed and received, and the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — Mr John Brown, chairman; Mr D. Shaw, vice-chairman; Mr "Win. C. Ford, secretary; Mr W. H. Price, trasuror; Mr H. Harding, auditor. Executive committee: Messrs J. .Brown, D. Shaw, W. H. Price, Win. Ford, F. Sargent, J. Neugeschwmder, T. Evans, H. Rogers, W. Jewell, T. Welle, and G. G. West.

Mr John Brown introduced the matter of a public library for the district, and after some discussion several sums of money were promised, and a small committee was formed to go into the matter at «,n early date. Some difficulty has been experienced since Mr Wilson's chaff-cutting plant ceased coming to the district, and the union in •the interest of the farmers is taking the matter in hand to get a plant to make periodical visits, and Mr Hy. Rogers was deputed to arrange tor this.
