Captain Pitt, B Company, Fii-st Maori Contingent, has petitioned Parliament asking for a Commission of. lit-| quiry to report on the procedure adopt- j ed m connection with his return to I Now Zealand and- the termination of j his military appointment, also to determine if petitioner shall be permitted to sue General Godley for libel and defamation of character.

Captain Pitt alleges that he was or-ck-red before- a Medical Board without warning, after being eight days and nights continuously on duty superintending trench digging on Galiipoli, that Brigadier-General. Russell told him that no matter what the Medical Boa-rd found it had been already arranged to send petitioner back to Cairo. Tho,board found him medically unlit. Ho returned to New Zealand, where tho Medical Board found that petitioner had heart disease, brought about by hard work and devotion ■ facility, therefore ho was unfit for service or work of any kind. A ponsion of £26 a year was awarded him. Petitioner, owing to his health, resigned from his position in the Native Department. Ho contend that General Godley in his letters to tho Minister of Defence unduly influenced the Minister to his detriment
