ASIAGO PLATEAU

ROME, June 1. General Cadorna, Commander-in-Chief of tho Italian Armies, reports:— "The enemy made violent attacks on our positions in the Lagarina Valley, supported by a furious bombardment. The attacking columns were annihilated. The fighting was fiercest ,at Pasdebuole, where Sicilian and other brigades several times dashed out of their trenches, and drove the enemy back with tho bayonet.

"Tho battle is developing between Posina and the upper Astico Valley. An intense concentration of artillery fire? obliged the Italians to evacuate Mount "Priafora, but a desperate counter-Rbtack reganicd possession of the position. Nevertheless, the violent fire of the enemy's artillery forced us to fall back slightly on tho southern slopes,of the mountain. We also evacuated Pinta Corbin, on tho Asiago plateau."
