(Per Press Associaiion-^-Copyrigbi). SENSATIONAL HOLD-UP. ATTACK ON POST OFFICE OFFICIALS. POSTMASTER ROBBED OF'£2oo. MEIJBOGRNE, .May. 31. A sensational attempt at robbery took place in tho forenoon. Two postal officials, Hughes and McCartney, were conveying £2000 to pay the workmen at tho new post office in Spencer Street, when three men, armed with revolvers, rushed up in a motor-cax and threw pepper in their faces. They struck McCartney severe blows on tho head, and attempted to grab the bog of money. Workmen came"on tho scene .and prevented anything further being done by the desperadoes, who clambered into tho motor ami escaped. McCartney was taken to the hospital, but is not seriously hurt.
Another sensation occurred afc Abbottsford. Gorman, the postmaster, drew £200 from the bank to pay soldiers. Returning to tho post oflieo ho deposited tho money in a }>ng on tho counter, while he went to attend the telephone. A man entered, seeurod the bug and bolted. Ho has not been caught.
