LORD WIMBORNE RECALLED.

REGARDED HIMSELF AS A , FIGUREHEAD. (Received, June 1, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 31. Lord Wimborne, recalled before the Royal Commission, said he signed all documents on the i Chief Secretary's advice, though he was not officially consulted respecting their character. Ho regarded himself rather as a figurehead. The Commission adjourned till further notice. Lord French wrote''to Lord Hardingo that ho felt that tho condition of Ireland was unsatisfactory. Early in February ho ' interviewed Mr Birrell, who did not seem afraid of tho Sinn Feiners, but feared dynamitings. Lord French consequently believed it unnecessary to i reinforce the Irish garrison, but held troops in readiness in England. He again interviewed Mr Birrell on March 23, and he gave no indication that his opinion had changed; ho only urged the despatch of troops to assist recruiting, but Lord French conld not sparo any for that purpose. ,
