STIRRING SCENES.
CALLING UP MARRIED MEN. LONDON, May 30. Stirring scenes were witnessed at Whitehall in connection with the calling up of married men between the ages of 27 and 35 years. Most of them were strong, healthy, and vigorous men, and all were in the best of spirits as though glad that their turn had come, and that they knew just where they vt-^ve. The men were allowed the choice of joining either the artillery or the infantry. The married men up to the age of 41 will be called up on June \ 13. /"
Many women are replacing their husbands, who have devoted the recent weeks to training their wives at their work. Others are starting munition work. Many wives with children have heen forced to break up their homes, and are returning to their parents.
