AN ABNORMAL CHILD.

ALLOWED TO D!E

CHEAT STIR IN AMERICA

(P<ir Press Association —Copyright)

(Received November 19, 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, November 18. A question.which is exciting more interest in tho "United States than the war lias arisen over the action of Dr Harry Haiselden, who, finding that a defective and abnormal child was given birth to by a Chicago woman, decided to allow it to die rather than perform an. operatiotn which was certain to save its life, but would never make it normal, or unparalysed. The mother approved and the medical profession agreed that the only possible course was followed.

The Coroner justified Dr Haiselden on the ground that it was impossible for the child ever to become normal.

The churches are divided in their opinion on the subject.
