IN THE NEW ZEALAND. ATTACK ON AN AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT.
TORPEDOED IN MEDITERRANEAN THIIEK NEW ZEALANDERS LOST. WELLINGTON, October 19. A. member of the howitzer battery with tho sth Reinforcements states in it lettor that he, with 43 other Now Zoa landers, are on an Australian transport which was torpedoed by a 'donnan submarine. Three of his party lost their lives. Boats and warrfiiips did great rescue work. Mr Masse-y states that the Government had had no advice of the torpedoing of any transport containing New Zealanders.
