A WOMAN'S DEATH.
BUNEDIN, October 20. ~ /Hie inquest regarding the death m hospital, on October 6, of Catherine -^j*nley, a married woman aged 34, was resumed to-day. -Dr Roberts, who made a post-mortem examination, said, in reply to the Chief Detective, that there was clear evidence of an unskilful attempt to perform an illegal operation, and this primarily was the cause of death. It was stated that if the doctor had suspected that the trouble- was due to illegal treatment, her life might have been saved, although deceased's condition was serious owing to a form of blood poisoning. The inquest is proceeding.
