TIMARU MEN.
TIMARU, October 18. One hundred and forty-five recruits left to-day for Trentham, and were given a good send-off. In the course of a speech Mr James Craigie, M.P., said his remarks on a former occasion had been wrongly construed as setting class against class. He had merely pleaded for equality of sacrifice, pointing out that while some families had sent several sons to the front (tho Mayor had sent three) there were other families who could spare young men without "financial or other embarrassment, but had sent none. '
