(From Our Own Correspondents.) /'! METHVEN. .. :! V The Recent Flower Show. A meeting of the Vestry of All Saints' Church, Methven, was held on Wednesday evening, when the balancesheet of the recent Flower Sho.w ; was submitted by the secretary (Mr S. Smith). It showed a net profit of £50 6s sd, which was considered highly satisfactory. Tho success was.due largely to Messrs J. J. Wood (Invercargill), A. Bradburg (Cashmere), W. Beumelbcrg, W. Bayliss/and W. Jones (Christchurch), who sent magnificent exhibits of tulips and daft'olils ; also to ■ the Methven Picture.Company,; which screened two films at the close of the show. The Vestry ho/1 very great pleasure in moving a hearty vote of thanks to the above gentlemen. The Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund will benefit to the extent of 25 per cent, of the net proceeds. The Saleyards Company.
■ The animal meeting of the Methven Saleyards Company was held in ' the sale-yards office on Thursday. Mr W. i Morgan occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of shareholders. The annual balance-sheet and report was read and adopted. It was decided to pay the usual 7£ per. cent, dividend, and carry the balance forward. - ; The directors retiring by rotation . were Messrs A. Orr and A. Murray. Mr Murray, having left the district, did not seek re-election. Messrs,Orr and Donald McDonald wore elected to the vacant positions. Mr ,T. F. Stone was appointed secretary. . A hearty vote of thanks w.a« accorded to Mr Morgan for th^;. exceptional amount of work ho had done during tho year in the interests of the company.
