PUBLIC NOTICES. NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. RACES AT TIMARU. EXCURSION TICKETS will be issued _to Timaru from Christchurch, Fairfield, .. and intermediate stations on 20th October; from Christchurch and Rakaia, and from Asliburton, Oamaru, and intermediate stations by trains, arriving at Timai'u up to 11.30 a.m. on.2lst and 23rd Octo-1 ber.. On 21st October the afternoon train from Timaru to Ashburton will start at 5.15 p.m., Ashburton arrive 8.8 p.m. On 23rd October a special passenger train stopping at certain stations to pick up passengers for Timaru Racecourse, will leave Christchurch at 8.5 a.m., Ashburton 10.14, and arrive Timaru 12.12 p.m. This train connects at Washdyke with a special train Timaru to the Racecourse. A return train, stopping;, at Washdyke to pick up passengers and,where required up to Ashburton/inclusive, to set down, also at Chertsey and Rakaia to set down, will leave Timaru for Christchurch .at 6.45 p.m., Ashburton 8.46, and arrive. Christchurch 10.33 p.m. Free passes and season and commuta- j tion tickets will not be available by the special train Christchurch to Timaru and back.FARES—To Timaru by the 8.5 a.m.J special froni Christchurch on 23rd October, available ofr return up to 27th October; also available Washdyke to Racecourse, and Racecourse to Timaru by the special trains between Timaru and Racecourse at following fares, which include Is for course admission :— * ■ . ■ From Rakaia 14s 3d first-class, 10s second-class; Chertsey 13s 4d and 9s 4d; Ashburton lls 5d and 8s; oWihslow 10s 4d and 7s 3d; Hinds 9s 3d and 6s 7d; Rangitata 7s.lld:and ss. 9d.
