NATIONAL REGISTER.
STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 14. The Minister for Internal Affairs stated to-day that the , arrangements for the taking of the National Register were well in hand. Tho Government Printing Office was working double time in order to get the necessary forms printed. Posters were being prepared for display at,'the various post ■ offices thoughout the Dominion, and when the tim'd came ''advertisements beyinserted in' the nqwspapoW drawing the attention of 1: the, smen to what was* required'of them/ The forms would be distributed through tho post office as far as the centres of population were concerned, added the Minister, while persons living in- the country districts might be requested to call for their forms at the local post offices, but it would be made jblear that in any case the.responsibility for becuring and filling up a form lay with the individual. No man would be absolved, from his responsibility simply because a form had not been placed in his hands without his having applied for it. The law required every, man to obtain and fill in a.form, and the Government intended to administer the Act rigidly without, exemptions ;of. any kind. ,"', • ,
