CRICKET.
ALBION CLUB
The annual meeting of the Albion Cricket Club was held on Monday evening in the Victoria Hall. Mr G. W. Andrews presided over a fair. ■ attendance of members.
The report and balance-sheet .were reads and adopted. The. balance-sheet showed a small deficit.
Taken on the whole, the past season was considered a very successful one. The members spoke on the good work the Association had done for cricket in the County. This being its,; ..first year, its work was greatly appreciated. The club entered two teams in the competition, and, though not successful in winning, it gave a good account of itself. Five members have enlisted for the front, three being now in the firing line. A discussion took place on the question of changing the name of the club. It was thought, as there was no Ashburton Club now, it being defunct, and that the Albion Club is the only club in Ashburton, it should take that name. It was unanimously decided to change the name of the club to the Ashburton Cricket Club.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr G. W. Andrews; vicepresidents. Messrs W. Nosworthy, M.P., D. Montgomery, H. Millichamp, F. Mainwaring, It.' Galbraith, and Rev. W. J. Elliott; captain, H. Ockleshaw; vice-captain, E. McShcrry; secretary and treasurer, W. R. Andrews; general committee, Messrs Day, Fowke, Keeley, G. McKenzie, the officers of tho Selection Committee, and the captain, vice-captain, and secretary. It was left in the hands of the committee to arrange the opening, and with a vote of thanks to the chair the meeting adjourned.
