Grand National Meeting. Second Day. (Per Press Association). CHUISTCHTJRCH, August 13. The Grand National meeting was continued at Iliocarton yesterday, in perfect weather, the sun shining out brightly. The rain of the previous clay had worked considerable improvement in the course. The crowd was not so large as on the opening day, but it was well up to the average, and the totalisator investments reached £41,851, compared with £33,827 on the corresponding day last year. Following were the results of the concluding events: — SPREYDON HURDLE HANDICAP, of 200 soys. One mile and threequarters. Art 1 Ruatangata 2 Caher Da yon ..3 Won easily by four lengths, Ruatangata being a. similar distance in front of Cahor Davon. Time, 3min. 22 4-5 sec. ISLINGTON HANDICAP, of 250 soys. One mile. Fortify 1 Glenroy 2 Encore 3 , Fortify won by half a head. Encore was a good length away, followed by Birkline. Time, lmin. 42 4-ssec. WOOLSTON -PLATE, of 120 soys. Six furlongs. Teviotdale I Scorch 2' ' Sea King 3 won by half a length, Sea King being three lengths away. Time, lmin. 16 1-osec: The winner was bought in for £160.
