SHEEPSKINS FOR CLOTHING

The Imperial authorities are preparing for a winter cqanpaign, when the men will be provided with big vests made . of sheepskin carrying short natural wool. A sample of what is required is in the Primo Minister's possession. It is sleeveless, made up of eight- or nine pieces sewn together, and is fastened in front with straps. Its total weight is 2-Jlb'. "We want 50,000 like these for the British troops," said the Prime Minister. "Our own men are having, vests of plain basil leather, and these.arc baing made by the women of New Zealand."
An i order for 50,000 sheepskin coats for the use oi: the troops in France has been placed in New Zealand.
Tbo Government is arranging to provide tho New Zealand troops with winter, coats made of plain basils or sheepskins without the wool. These garments, which are being made by many volunteer workers, are light, and haw tho additional advantage that they will not harbour vermin.
